It is interesting how we always think that the grass is greener on the other side. I am 36 years old, lived 12 years abroad and never thought that I would one day be back in Sweden - rooting myself in a beautiful place called Mölle.
I grew up thinking that my hometown was just another place you called home. I always dreamed about far away lands and adventures. Resulting in that I have throughout my years of soul searching lived in San Francisco, Oakland, London, Rio de Janeiro and San Jose, Costa Rica. It wasn't until I got pregnant that my desire to be close to my mother got so strong that I eventually found myself on a plane home to Sweden with the intention to stay. Earlier I haven't managed more than two weeks at a time before my restless soul needed to move again. When I finally found yoga I started to see the beauty in slowing down. In letting go. And in just being. And those concepts didn't come after a few classes of copying asanas. Instead these thoughts and feelings have been sneaking up on me as I continue my journey on my mat.

I love being a single mother. It is the most fulfilling existence that I have ever experienced. The love and joy and freedom it has brought me contradicts everything I though motherhood was before I was a parent. My yoga routines are stricter than ever and at the same time so unattached to outcome. I have come to the realization that yoga is more than just the time on my mat, although that is an important aspect of the yoga magic. Yoga is everywhere. In how we react, how we encounter the world around us. That is yoga practice. I used to feel very lost and lonely growing up, making me filled with anger which could result in sudden outburst.
There are lessons in Yoga everywhere
I can still get very angry and or sad. My feelings are hurt easily but I can also bounce back much faster. Forgiveness is key of letting go. And forgiveness toward ourselves is the most important aspect of moving on and growing. So finding the perfect environment to practice does not involve a nice view or a beautiful mat. What it does come down to is pure and simply to treat your body as a temple. Your body is where the practice takes place. Everyday, all day. Of course we all want to share our beautiful energies with other people. I think that is why it is just as important to be able to value oneself so much that you know which people to stay around and which people to not. We all vibe on different levels and finding people that resonate with your music will keep you happy. Nothing said about the people resonating on a different tune. Remember that there should never be any hard feelings, you just have to realize you are singing on a different song.
